The Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing both raw materials used in manufacturing and finished goods for resale and inventory. This role is critical to ensuring production schedules are maintained, inventory levels are accurate, and customer orders are fulfilled efficiently. The successful candidate will work closely with production, logistics, sales, accounting, and product development in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase raw materials, fabrics, components, and production supplies used in manufacturing
  • Purchase finished goods and resale products from domestic and international suppliers
  • Issue, track, and manage purchase orders
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing requirements
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding lead times, shortages, pricing, and delivery schedules
  • Coordinate incoming shipments with logistics and receiving departments
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP system
  • Work closely with production and sales teams to prioritize urgent requirements
  • Source new suppliers and obtain competitive pricing quotations
  • Review supplier pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure purchasing documentation and records are properly maintained
  • Support inventory planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships

Qualifications

  • Previous purchasing or procurement experience preferred
  • Experience purchasing both raw materials and finished goods is considered a strong asset
  • Manufacturing, wholesale, or production environment experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with ERP systems, spreadsheets, and inventory software
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with international suppliers, importing, and shipping logistics is an asset
